Eco-friendly Transportation & Delivery

Environmentally friendly transportation

Making use of our advanced logistics technologies and extensive operational expertise, we are committed to realizing efficient, eco-friendly logistics systems. Examples include: adopting new technologies that encourage energy-saving driving; promoting the use of optimized transportation modes with reduced environmental load and increased loading efficiency; reducing fuel consumption; reducing greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) and the discharge of atmospheric pollutants – nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates (PM).

1 Promotion of “eco-drive”

Our vehicles are fitted with digital tachometers to enable analysis of daily driving behavior. This enables us to provide drivers with guidance regarding best practices, including “eco-drive” – switching off the engine when parked.

2 Increasing efficiency

  • We have created our own transportation/delivery operation called Zip Express® to increase efficiency and reduce the number of vehicles needed by making use of return trips and sharing delivery resources.
  • We are also working to achieve greater loading efficiency by adopting a special pallet-stacking tool.

3 Promoting modal shift

We are promoting the use of rail and sea transport, which have a lower environmental load than trucks. These modes are also now attracting the attention of companies primarily interested in ensuring they have sufficient transportation capacity. We are thus actively proposing their use to our clients.
In 2004, we received certification – jointly with Mitsubishi Electric – from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to demonstrate the effectiveness of modal shift to railroads. Today we make use of that knowhow when advising our clients on logistics solutions.
